Not received any notice from SC over ruling, says NA speaker
ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza has said that she has not received any notice from the Supreme Court over her ruling of not sending disqualification reference against the Prime Minister to the Election Commission.
Talking to the media persons here on Wednesday‚ she said that she is the elected speaker and deserves respect of all including the elected representatives.
To a question about the upcoming budget‚ the speaker said all the eyes of the people are on the parliamentarians and they should improve their performance for their wellbeing.
Earlier‚ the Speaker and US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter inaugurated Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Service (PIPS) .
The Institute has been established at a cost of 11.5 million dollars with the US assistance and will serve as an independent research and training center for all of the country's legislative bodies.
Speaking on the occasion‚ Speaker Fehmida Mirza expressed the confidence that the institute will play a vibrant role in the legislative process by providing linkages between the federal and provincial assemblies. NNI
