ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday called on a high level meeting to discuss the uprising issues of Balochistan, the disappearances and the sense of deprivation among Balochs.

The meeting will be attended by Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and other heads of federal and provincial law enforcing agencies.

After the sou moto notice of Supreme Court and the National Conference on "Balochistan Issue and Its solution," by Supreme Court Bar Association the Prime Minister eventually decided to mull over the issue with the consultation of military and law enforcing agencies of the country.

According to print reports, Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry warned the government to take right decision at the right time otherwise the Constitution will declare emergency and take other steps as well.

Besides, The Parliamentary Committee on the National Security (PCNS) head by Senator Raza Rabbani discuss the issues of missing with facts has now decided to forward the government two separate sets of recommendations, legislative and administrative, to sort out one of most complicated human rights issues facing the country.

During the SCBA meeting on May 26, all the speakers and leaders of political parities called for urgent measures for the resolution of Balochistan issue and removal of sense of deprivation among the residents of province.

The conference mutually agreed on the need to take major steps to address the widespread anti-state dissent in Balochistan.

In a report by the State department of United States, based largely on accounts by rights groups and officials, said that disappearances in Balochistan “remained a problem” with the mutilated bodies of 355 missing people found between June 2010 and December 2011.

Baluch rebels rose up in 2004, demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from oil, gas and mineral resources in the region.

The State Department report also accounted allegations of rights violations in Balochistan, a highly sensitive issue for Pakistan.
