Speaker National Assembly, Dr. Fehmida Mirza has decided not to send a reference against convicted PM Yusuf Raza Gilani, to the Election Commission. Aaj News reported.

After examining the Supreme Court verdict regarding the Prime Minister's conviction and consulting her team of legal experts for many days, Speaker National Assembly, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, announced her ruling today.

In a five page ruling, she said that there is no need to send a reference to the Election Commissioner regarding PM's disqualification from office, as the Supreme Court itself had not mentioned disqualifying the PM in its verdict.

She said that according to the apex court's verdict and Article 63 of the constitution, there is no question of PM Gilani being referred for disqualification.

She also expressed her concerns over the procedure of forwarding the apex court's short and detailed verdict to her office by Supreme Court's assistant registrar.
