PU staff continue boycott over attack on teachers

Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) has decided to continue boycott of the classes till Thursday against the attack of Islami Jamiat Tulba on three senior teachers of the varsity.

It was decided in a general body meeting of the association on Monday, which was attended by more then four hundred teachers from different faculties expressed their resentment and condemned the IJT attack on three senior teachers on last Wednesday.

They also passed resolution unanimously, demanding arrest of attackers.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Amir Sarwar, President PU ASA.

According to Dr Amir teacher will announce their next plan of action in the general meeting of the ASA scheduled to be held on May 24.

Dr Sarwar briefed the teachers regarding the arrest of some people who were involved in the attack on teachers.

He also said that police had arrested some accused from the hostel but they were released on bail now.

Earlier teachers took out a protest rally on the campus bridge.

They were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands.

They demanded that there should be no political interference in the university adding that government should provide protection to the teachers of the Punjab University.
