According to sources, doctors in Sindh have announced to start a short strike from Monday, May 21 in each and every hospital of Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Tando Mohammed Khan, Khairpur, Badin and Thatta.

Doctors from Civil Hospitals in different cities of the province, Jinnah Post-graduate Medical centre (JPMC) and Lyari General Hospital announced this during a protest meeting held at Karachi Press Club on Thursday evening.

"Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) needed to play its role and provide an insurance facility to the doctors, who are serving their day and nights in different hospitals," said PMA- Sindh Dr. Samrina Hashmi while addressing to her colleagues.

Dr. Samrina mentioned in her statement that, a well known neurosurgeon Professor Dr. Aftab Qureshi of LUMHS Hyderabad was kidnapped a few days ago when he was on his way to Hyderabad. On the same day Dr. Faisal Iftikhar was also kidnapped from the area of Gulshan-e-Hadeed, she said that Dr.Faisal was the sixth doctor kidnapped from Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

PMA Sindh, Dr. Samrina said, the houses of Dr. Irshad Shah, Dr. Zahid Sheikh and Professor Fasih Hashmi were also looted in Hyderabad, few days ago. She also said mentioning that, “The police was contacted for the action but so far no results are seen.
