Taliban release Bannu jail break video

BANNU: Taliban have released the video of Bannu jail attack in which leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Hakimullah Mehsud is briefing his fighters’ squad.

According to the reports, some 150 TTP fighters are seen in the tape gathered at one place and receiving a briefing about the plan to launch an attack on the Bannu prison.

The TTP head Hakimullah Mahsud and his deputy Waliur Rahman are also seen in the videotape.

According to the report, Mahsud is seen briefing his men about the plan for storming the jail.

The tape shows the militants attacking the jail and the prisoners walking free.

NADRA's help in re-arrest of escapees

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has requested the Federal Government to direct National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide required credentials of Bannu jail prisoners to Home and Tribal Affairs Department on urgent basis.

The Home Department clarifying that a number of prisoners were set free during a militant attack on April 15, 2012 and it was difficult to trace each and every escapee, said a press release of Home and Tribal Affairs Department here on Tuesday.

It sent a list of released / escaped prisoners to General Manager (GM) NADRA KP requesting to provide CNICs numbers and photographs in soft and hard copies to make the job of intelligence agencies easy to re-arrest the prisoners.

It said that after the lapse of three weeks GM NADRA has not responded to the request despite the fact that the Home Department sent frequent reminders to the official to expedite the process keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue.

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Home and Tribal Affairs Department has requested the federal government to direct Chairman NADRA to provide the requisite information to Home Department on urgent basis.
