Steel Mill corruption: SC directs NAB to investigate case
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court here on Wednesday ordered the the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate into the corruption of Pakistan Steel Mill (PSM), and present the report with the duration of three months, Aaj news reported.
A three-member bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Pervez, heard a suo moto case on the corruption of Rs22 billion in Pakistan Steel Mills and reserved its verdicts in the case on March 15.
According to the case proceedings today, The SC transferred the investigation of the case from Federal Investigation Authority to National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The SC directed Chariman NAB to monitor the investigation and conclude the case within three month.
Earlier in March, a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court had reserved its judgment on the case relating to corruption in the PSM, which had suffered a whopping loss of Rs26.5 billion in 2008-09 alone.
