Pakistan thrash Sri Lanka 14-0 to reach Junior Asia semi-final
MELAKA: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 14-0 to qualify for the Asia Cup hockey semi-final on Monday.
Malaysia's city, Melaka, saw a totally one-sided affair where the Pakistani junior hockey team defeated their Sri Lankan counterpart 14-0.
The match was the last match from the group stages.
The Pakistanis were in the driving seat from the start of the match, having a 8 goal lead by the end of the first half. Pakistan's Mohammad Tauseeq scored five goals, including a wonderful hat-trick.
Umar Bhatta was another player who scored a hat-trick within the match.
Pakistan would face South Korea in the semi-final of the Junior hockey Asia Cup event on May 10.
Earlier, Pakistan had defeated China 1-0 in their opening encounter while their second game against India resulted in a 2-2 tie.
