Nokia’s Chairman Jorma Ollila promised a variety of fresh products ahead of a meeting on Thursday with shareholders who are gradually losing patience with the company’s recovery tactics.

In a recent interview, Ollila stated that the Financial Times, the Finnish company would launch a range of tablets and “hybrid” smart mobile devices, but did not specify when.

Ollila, who will be retiring at a meeting after about 27 years with the company, said that Nokia had been too sluggish at the start of the smartphone uprising, but the combination of new products and Nokia services would help.

Nokia is believed to reveal its first tablet computer later this year when Microsoft’s new windows 8 hits the shelves.

"Nokia's fate in tablets is directly linked to Microsoft, which also has to succeed in this space," said Pohjola analyst Hannu Rauhala.
