Pakistan’s involvement led to the capture of Osama bin Laden: Mukhtar
ISLAMABAD: Federal Defence Minister, Ahmed Mukhtar, has publicly stated that Osama’s capture was possible because of Pakistan army's involvement in the Abbottbad operation.
The Defence Minister further stated that the US soldiers were able to track down the former Taliban leader because of a reported SIM card; which the Pakistan intelligence authorities tracked while being used by Osama.
Mukhtar stated that the SIM was rarely used by the former Taliban leader but the Pakistani intelligence was able to track it down and trace Osama’s Abbottabad residence.
While talking about the Abbottabad operation, Mukhtar added that the Pakistani intelligence tipped the US agencies about Osama’s location; which eventually resulted in the Abbottabad operation.
The final report investigating the Abbottabad operation is being prepared under the supervision of an investigative commission. The commission has stated that the report would be completed and presented later this month.
