KARACHI:The joint operation of Police and rangers in Lyari continued for the second consecutive day here on Saturday.

As per our correspondent Taha Obaidi, two men were killed during the exchange of fire today and other three were wounded. A bus was also set on fire earlier today.

SHO Civil Line, Fawad Hussain, and a police constable also lost their lives during the course of the operation and were killed as a result of a grenade blast.

Reports have indicated that the death toll reached 6 at the end of the day.

At least 12-15 suspects were detained during the two days operation from the areas of Ghas mandi, Cheel Chowk and Li Market, said police.

Women and kids came out of their homes to protest against the operation but police sent them back to their homes.

Talking to Aaj news SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam assured that the forces will take control of the areas today and the operation is likely to be completed within the next 24 hours.

Since the two days of operation, the people of Lyari have been confined in their homes.
