KARACHI: The combined police and rangers operation continue in Lyari on Friday after the killing of a policeman during an exchange of fire with a suspected gangster and the killing of a political activist the previous day.

The miscreants in the area fired Rocket propelled grenades (RPGs) due to which two people including a policemen were killed and eight other people were injured.

CID SSP Chaudhary Aslam Khan was also present during the operation whereas for the first time a squad of the women’s police also took part in the operations with 600 other policemen.

Earlier today, police detained a suspect from the area and where they had to face great retaliation from the criminal's side.

According to the sources, police entered the area early morning with around 14 equipped vehicles following the Ghas Mandi, Cheel Chowk and Mosa lain areas.

The loud gun shots and grenade attacks forced people to confined in their homes until the last updates. The matric exam was also canceled due to the deteriorated condition of lyari.
