Pakistan not considering unilateral army withdrawal from Siachen: FO

Foreign office in a statement on Thursday said that, Pakistan is not mulling over the unilateral withdrawal of troops from the Siachen and there is no change in the policy, Aaj news reported.

In a weekly briefing Foreign office stated that, the ongoing dialogue process between Pakistan and India included discussions regarding troop deployment, however the country’s policy regarding Siachen at present remained unchanged.

However, the Indian government welcomed Pakistan’s statement on resolving the Siachen issue.

The defence Minister of India appreciated the move saying that this issue should be resolved to ensure peaceful.

Earlier on Wednesday, Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said that both India and Pakistan should talk on the issues including the matter of siachen.

PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Siachen also raised the point of troops withdrawal from both the countries and termed it as a welfare of  both the nations and their people.
