Ronaldo confident on winning La Liga
MADRID:Â Cristiano Ronaldo feels that La Liga leaders, Real Madrid, are inching closer towards the title as they face a struggling Sporting Gijon at home (Santiago Bernabeu) this weekend.
The pressure has risen up on Jose Mourinho as his side dropped their 10 points lead to 1 on Tuesday when Barcelona defeated Getafe 4-1.
The Portuguese winger played a pivotal role in their Wednesday’s win over Atletico Madrid by scoring his seventh hat-trick of the season as Real Madrid defeated Atletica Madrid 4-1.
The scores were tied 1-1 at one point in time but it was the Portuguese who blasted through his opposition with his hat-trick
"Still there is a little way to go but the league is near now. We were anxious going into the game as we knew that Barca had won but now we are relaxed," said Ronaldo,
"Losing is not a word in my vocabulary. We knew it would be a difficult game against Atletico and they played very well so I am happy with the result. I am not looking for personal records but titles for Real Madrid and I have to thank my teammates because without them I would not have scored," added Ronaldo.
The Portuguese has scored 40 league goals this season, one ahead of arch rival Lionel Messi. But Messi leads the tally with 61 goals in all competitions.
The month of April would be a crucial month for Real Madrid as it will decide their fate with respect to the title race.
Barcelona players deem themselves to have a very good fighting spot as Real Madrid would have to travel to Nou Camp. Barcelona has a fair bit of advantage, considering their El Classico track record.
Sergio Busquets of Barcelona stated that his team is still relying on the leader to drop more points if Barcelona is to win but he also favours the fact that Barcelona would have an upper hand in the final El Classico of the season.
