Memo scandal: Yasin Malik, Shuja Pasha testify before commission

The memo commission resumed the case hearing in Islamabad on Thursday, while testimony of Ex DG ISI General Shuja Pasha is underway, AAj news reported.

The three-member commission comprises Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa as its head and Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Musheer Alam and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur Rehman has summoned the meeting after the Supreme Court granted another six-week extension in the commission’s deadline that expired on March 31..

During the hearing today, Yasin Malik accepted that he has meet Mansoor ijaz thrice but rejected the allegation to meet any other spy agents.
Similarly Shuja pasha informed the commission that he met Mansoor Ijaz on October 22,2011. He agreed with the statement of Mansoor Ijaz saying that he do not know who advised he consulted only the military leadership after coming to know about Marsoor Ijaz's article in the Financial Times.

'I wanted to know about the author of the memo and directed a source in the ISI to contact Mansoor who agreed to meet me and share details but outside Pakistan and the US.'

As the military top brass had asked me to go ahead, the meeting was arranged in a London hotel on October 22, 2011 which lasted for four hours, Shuja told the commission.
Earlier today, General shuja pasha appeared before the commission along with his counsel.

Earlier on Wednesday, Former ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani submitted an application in Islamabad High Court excusing to appear before the memo commission for proceedings due to bad health.

In his application, Haqqani stated that he is not feeling well and undergoing some medical tests in the United States. Counsel zahid Bukhari has said that he would produce the medical reports of his client before the commission, adding that Haqqani is admitted in hospital of US.
