Violence in lyari: PPP leader, four others killed
The unrest in lyari continued here on Monday while the death toll raised to five today and ten since last 24hours in different areas of the city, Aaj news reported.
Five people including the Vice President of PPP Lyari, Hassan Soomro were killed and several injured during clashes today.
The Sunday's killing of a gangster triggered clashes between the angry residents and the police that took violent turn today.
According to the police, two dead bodies were recovered earlier today from Nayabad and Landhi. While four people lost their lives in the firing incident in Nazimabad near Board office, Al-asif and Bin Qasim town.
Since last night the violent protest from the residents of lyari stopped the police to conduct further operation in the area. While they demanded the government to arrest those who are involve in the fake operation.
According to our reporter Nasir Butt, The firing is still continued and The shops were closed so the life is almost halted in the area.
President Asif Ali Zardari directed that indiscriminate legal proceedings should be carried out against criminals responsible for wreaking havoc in Karachi.
He said this while convening a meeting on the worsening law and order situation in Bilawal House, Karachi.
President Zardari directed that the law enforcement agencies should deal with the criminals strictly.
Chief minister Sindh, Sindh Home Minister Mazoor Wasan and officials of the home department, police, rangers and intelligence agencies also attended the meeting.
