Contempt Case: Aitzaz stresses a ‘fair trial’; hearing resumed
The counsel of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, said that under Article-10A, every one has a right to have a free and fair trial.
The PPP leader insisted, while talking to the media outside his residence today that the judicial council must see his point of view. He said that 5 out of the 7 member bench should not be judging this case. According to article 10-A a judge who has issued a show-cause notice, cannot sit in bench hearing the regarding petition. Authority who frames charge-sheet, is not eligible to hear the same case, he added.
Mentioning the Raymond Davis incident and The American soldier who killed 16 Afghan Civilians he said that they were taken back to their country by their Government.  He was adamant on his statement that the holder of the office of the President enjoys immunity in all courts of the world.
The court proceedings are currently underway in the presence of a seven member-bench in the Supreme Court.
