Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday said that intellectuals and scholars should eradicate any possibility of division among the ranks of new and old Sindhis.

Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) renewed his vow to struggle against feudalism, oppression of the poor, middle class and the working class people, as his party celebrated its 28th founding day (Yom-e-Tasees) at a public meeting addressed by him by telephone at Bagh-e-Mustafa ground in Latifabad.

Altaf Hussain reiterated the resolve that the party would continue its three- decades old struggle against feudalism, uncontrolled capitalism and oppression of the poor, middle class and working class people.

He also appealed to the President to save Karachi from the menace of extortion mafia adding that MQM was the first political party to come out in protest against that occurrence.
He requested the people of Sindh to stop voting for the feudal lords in the elections because they consider poor people and peasants as slaves.
He directed the party’s members in the Sindh Assembly to take steps for a legislation which gives ‘industrial labour’ status to the workers in the agriculture sector.
“MQM wants to liberate Sindhi, Punjabi and Baloch people from the tyranny of feudalism. I request you not to trust the feudals and the pseudo nationalists,” he appealed.
Altaf Hussain maintained that he was living a life in exile for 20 years because he had never compromised on principles and struggled for the rights of the oppressed people.
He recalled how their movement transformed from the All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation to Mohajir Qaumi Movement and finally the present Muttahida.
The MQM chief paid tribute to the supporters who stood behind him during all those years.
He said that his party is against hatred on basis of various beliefs and exploitation of minorities.
“If we MQM came to the power we will see the word ‘minority’ for Hindus, Christians, Sikhs and others will no longer be used,” he assured.
Hussain invited Sindhis to become part of his movement against feudalism and slavery so that an end to divisive politics in the province could be achieved.
The MQM chief presented a list of demands for development of Hyderabad to the government.
He directed the party’s MPAs to build pressure in the Sindh Assembly for passage of a law for establishment of a university in Hyderabad as announced by Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad.
He also ordered them to allocate an amount from their development funds to set up an advanced information technology institute in Hyderabad.
He called for support for the bangle industry, improvement of Latifabad’s drainage system as well as setting up a cardiology hospital.
Altaf Hussain announced that a public meeting of women will be held soon in Punjab, besides announcing a gift of two well equipped and four ordinary ambulances for Khidmat-i- Khalq Foundation (KKF) and Rs 1.5 million for Hyderabad Press Club.
MQM’s Deputy Convener and the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr. Farooq Sattar urged the people of Sindh to discard the nationalist leaders.
“MQM is not just against the geographical division but also opposes creating disharmony and divisions,” he categorically said.

Ashfaq Mangi, Zonal Incharge Muhammad Sharif, Ghulam Pir Mujadid Sarhindi,
Shaheen Gilani, Suhail Baloch, Gulfaroze Khan Khattak and others also addressed the public meeting.
