Six members of a family were killed due to poisonous gas in a bid to rescue each other from a gutter in Rahim Yar Khan on Saturday.

A person was sitting on a slab of a manhole in the house in Allah Bukhsh locality when it caved in and he fell into it.

In the meantime, Usman Ali along with his brother Ibrahim Ali jumped into the gutter to rescue his son but they could not come back and died. Another three brothers-Imran Ali, Irfan Ali and Rizwan Ali sons of Ghulam Nabi ventured to rescue the drowned persons when they also fell victim to toxic gas.

The bodies have been retrieved from the gutter.
