The President of Pakistan, Mr.Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint session of the Parliament today. This would be his fifth address to the Parliament, which will make him the first President in Pakistan's history to address the Parliament for a fifth consecutive year.

President Zardari will highlight the achievements of the past four years of his party's government and give directions for stepping into its fifth year and completing the mandate people had given them in 2008.

Extreme security measures have been considered in the capital city of Islamabad for this session, since high level foreign diplomats would be arriving to attend it. The interior minister Sen.Rehman Malik headed a security meeting reviewing the security of Red Zone and the capital. In that meeting he said, that no ordinary or unidentified person would be allowed in the Red Zone during the session proceedings. He also said that separate escorting points will be assigned for various dignitaries who will be arriving today at the Parliament.

Reports are that opposition members have held a meeting among themselves and plan on making a statement at the President's speech by thumping desks and chanting out slogans in his opposition. While on the other hand, MQM has announced to give attendance to the speech after Mr. Zardari called the party officials and convinced them to call of the boycott, late last night.

The President will address the parliament at around 2pm, today.
