MQM, traders protest against extortion in Karachi

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) along with Karachi traders on Friday protested in and outside the Sindh Assembly against the on-going unabated activities of extortionists in Karachi and threatened to boycott the upcoming joint session of the Parliament if the government did not take action against the extortionists.

While talking to media MQM leader Wasim Aftab said that, the extortion and Parchi mafia are working under the supervision of government.

Earlier today, MQM had called an emergency meeting of its cooridnation committees in Karachi and London in which they decided to agitate against extortionist mafia, who, the MQM alleged, had patrons amongst some of the feudal lords in Sindh. Some of these feudals, they claimed, sat in the Sindh Assembly.
MQM has also walked out from the National Assembly in protest on Thursday.
MQM's Deputy Parliamentary Leader Haider Abbas Rizvi on a point of order in National Assembly said that extortion was being demanded by calling the people through international rooming numbers.
The party demanded the government to take immediate notice of the situation in Karachi, saying that the traders have become victims of rising incidents of extortion.
