As the deadline to write the letter to Swiss authorities comes closer, various speculations are being made as to whether the the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani should write the letter -reopening the corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari- or not.

But in recent developments today, the Premiere while addressing the Islamia University students in Bhawalpur, said that he would not be writing the letter because writing the letter against the President would be a violation against the constitution of Pakistan.

He said that he would prefer being found guilty for contempt of court rather than be given a death penalty for violating Article 6 of the Constitution which would mean treason.

“If I write the letter, it will be a violation of the Article 6 of the Constitution.”, he said.

During a court hearing of the NRO implementation case on March 8, the court had strictly ordered the PM to write the letter without taking any legal advise after which the hearing was adjourned till March 21.

The Prime Minister, while talking to the students at the University also talked about the Seraiki province and resumption of NATO supply, saying that people who talk about creating a new province are just trying to manifest dispute among the people.

He said also said that the re-opening of NATO supply route is a decision that the parliament will decide on.
