Supreme Court: ECP explains failure in preparing Electoral rolls

The Election Commission of Pakistan submitted an explanation in black and white to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, explaining the delay in completion of voters lists.

CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who was heading the three member bench hearing the case of bogus voter lists said that the court had ordered the lists to be finalized by 23rd February, but it seems as if the Election Commission isn't committed enough to implement the court's orders.

He said the list will be benefit the public rather than the courts, and that the proceedings should have begun back in 2007.

Climaxing the proceedings, CJ remarked, attending to the EC secretary he said that if the court can proceed against the prime minister of the country, it can proceed against him too.

The case for bogus voter lists was filed by the former leader Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan.
