7-nation Snooker championship begins in Karachi

Former Asian number two Muhammad Sajjad of Pakistan made a sterling start in 7-nation International Snooker Championship by beating Muhammad Faisal Khan of India 4-2 at a hotel hall on Sunday evening.
28-year-old from Sargodha, Sajjad was in impressive touch by carving out a clearance of 103 in the fifth frame to steal the limelight on the opening day.
The much-awaited Jubilee 7-nation International Snooker Championship explode into action at Hotel Pearl Continental from Sunday with 20 cuemen in the fray for crown.
The star attraction in the event will be 17-year-old Reigning World Hussein Vafaei Ayouri of Iran. Vafaei came to spotlight after winning the IBSF global title at Bangalore, India last year.Besides Iran, Bahrain, Egypt, India, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand and host Pakistan are taking part in the 6-day competition.This is the first major event Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) after hosting the Asian Snooker Championship in 2001.
