CJ takes notice of polling station rigging; assault on lady worker by Waheeda Shah
Waheeda Shah, who is a by-poll candidate for the PPP was caught on video, slapping and assaulting two female workers inside a polling station in the town of Tando Mohammad Khan.
A notice was issued by the SC Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in which, he has taken a suo moto notice of the assault on a lady officer of the EC, by the hands of Waheeda Shah.
In a statement to the media, The PPP candidate said that whatever happened was wrong, but she slapped the officer because she was trying to stop her from rigging the polls therefore, the picture looks uglier than it really is.
After this statement the Chief Justice has directed that the rigging claims be investigated along with the assault claims.
The Election Commision of Pakistan has decided to hold back the by-poll results of PS-53, the electorate for Tando Mohammad Khan.
The apex court has issued notices to the parties involved - Waheeda Shah, IG Sindh and the Election Commision - to appear before the court on March 2 and a FIR has also been lodged against Shah on directions of the Election Commision of Pakistan.
