Rehman announces withdrawal of cases against Baloch exiled leaders

Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Thursday announced withdrawal of cases against those Baloch leaders who are living aborad.

"Following reconciliation policy of the government, I announce that Baloch leaders including Barahamdakh Bugti and Harbyar Marri should return to Pakistan to take part in political and development process and I would personally receive them," he told mediapersons.

Rehman Malik said this after chairing a high level meeting held here to review implementation process of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package, which was also attended by Minister for Science and Technology, Changez Khan Jamali, Sardar Muhammad Umar Gorgaij, Secretary Interior, Secretary Information, Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources, Chief Secretary Balochistan and other senior officials.

The minister while responding to a question said he has withdrawn all the cases against Harbyar Marri, except for one case. He said solution to Balochistan problems is political and the coalition government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is determined to address the issue through political means.

The minister dispelled the impression created by certain elements regarding the situation in the province and said: "We want to bring development in order to ensure stability and prosperity."

"We want friends and at the same time want to strengthen Pakistan," he added.
