Security concerns: Ijaz refuses to come to Pakistan
The central character of the memo gate scandal Mansoor Ijaz will not be coming to Pakistan due to dissatisfied security measures from the government, Said Counsel For Ijaz, akram Sheikh on Monday.
Mansoor ijaz was scheduled to appear before the three-member investigation commission formed by the Supreme Court, on Tuesday.
Mansoor Ijaz refuses to come to Pakistan and asks the commission to record the statement in Zurich, switzerland or London.
Earlier, Attorney General Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq said the government would provide best possible security to Ijaz on his arrival, but ruled out his lawyer Akram Sheikh’s demand that an army battalion should be deployed to protect him.
Counsel for Mansoor ijaz, Sheikh had said that he advised his client against coming to Pakistan because he didn’t get assurance from the army leadership about his security.
Sheikh had also written to attorney general and Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani seeking special security arrangements for Ijaz.
