Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday gave his consent to have renowned lawyer and senior PPP leader Syed Aitzaz Ahsan as his counsel.

Prime Minister Gilani will appear before a seven-member bench of the Supreme Court on January 19 to face a contempt notice on the  issue of re-opening of cases under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

Gilani announced his decision to appear before the court in his address to the National Assembly on Monday.

Party heads of the allied parties will accompany him to the Court.
