The memo commission on Monday directed the authorities to issue immediate visa to Mansoor Ijaz, while his passport copy was given to the Attorney general.

During the commission's proceedings today, Advocate Akram Shaikh, the counsel for Ijaz, confirmed his client’s availability to appear before the commission on Jan 16, but said that his arrival depended on the condition that the Blackberry conversation between Ijaz and Haqqani was made available to investigating authorities.
Shaikh said that Ijaz had already issued a legal notice to the telephone company for making the conversation available. According to the company, Haqqani’s consent was also needed to provide access to the conversation, he said.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief , Nawaz Sharif, who is also a petitioner in the memogate case and ex-envoy Husain Haqqani appeared before the commission probing the memo scandal.
The judicial commission probing the memogate scandal held its proceeding at Islamabad High Court under the head of Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Qazi Faiz Isa.

The commission had already issued notices to President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif to appear in person or file their statements.
The commission had earlier summoned DG ISI, General Shuja Pasha, former ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani and American businessmen Mansoor Ijaz, who failed to appear before the commission in its first hearing. They were again summoned to appear on Monday.
Mansoor Ijaz had also written a letter to the commission in which he said he was ready to visit Pakistan and requested for provision of complete security to him and the evidence he would be in possession of. However, his lawyer Akram Shaikh told that his client was not given the visa to visit Pakistan.
The commission then instructed the Attorney General to issue visa to Ijaz on urgent basis and ensure his security while the commission has also asked to provide additional security to Husain Haqqani.
The memo scandal will dominate this week as judicial commission will start its probe from Monday while the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) will meet on Tuesday to continue its own proceedings.Interestingly, the judicial commission has been given four-week time to complete the probe while PCNS has not been given any deadline to complete it proceeding.
