Wapda workers continued to protest on Wednesday against the proposed privatisation of power distribution companies and nine national thermal powerhouses of Pepco across the country.
The labour leaders also criticised the high cost of electricity for the consumers created by the rental powerhouses and independent power producers.
Employees in Gujranwala staged a sit-in outside the GEPCO office. The protest was started at 11 AM.
Similarly, Hydro labour union in shakkar closed their offices and took out a procession.
They also observed the complete pen-down strike, while Mepco Engineers Welfare Association (MEWA) also joined the strike.
The rally began from Bakhtiar memorial hall, Shah Rukn-i-Alam colony and ended at Mepco Head Quarter.
They demanded the government to give priority to the hydel power projects to provide cheap electricity to the domestic, industrial and commercial consumers.
