At least 26 people died on Saturday after taking poisonous liquor in the Pirowal area of Khanewal district some 60 kilometers east of Multan.

Earlier, DSP Khanewal Shehzad Manzoor confirmed the death of 26 persons of a family on Saturday who took the locally manufactured toxic liquor.

While DPO khanewal took notice of the deaths and suspended the SHO Pirowal area, Qamar bhatti.

According to the deatils, Shehzad Masih son of Boota Masih purchased locally manufactured liquor to celebrate the wedding ceremony with his friends, Resultantly three persons Shehzad, Abdul Hameedand Muhammad Jamal died on the spot. And another eight died till morning. Ten other persons were referred to Hospital in critical condition.

The death toll raised 26 within three days. The deceased includes Asif, Muhammad akram, Muhammad Qaisar, Niaz urf Gopa, Altaf, Ashfaq jatti, Tahir Masood, Manzoor, Naseem and others.
