US allegations on Qadeer Khan continue
A previous unknown complex has been identified in Syria that supports suspicions that the government allegedly worked with Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, founding father of Pakistan’s nuclear progamme, to acquire technology that could make atomic bomb, AP news agency reported.
According to the news agency, the buildings closely match the design of a uranium enrichment plant provided to Libya when Moammar Qadhafi was trying to build nuclear weapons allegedly under Khan’s guidance.
The report said the UN investigators also have obtained alleged correspondence between Khan and a Syrian official. The Syrian proposed cooperation and a visit to Khan’s laboratories, it said.
The agency asserted that the details were provided to it by a senior diplomat and a former UN investigator, adding that both spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.
