Taseer muder case: IHC stays Qadri’s death penalty
Islamabad High Court has stayed the death orders of Mumtaz Qadri's and on Tuesday.
The apex court has accepted to proceed the case of Mumtaz Qadri and directed the federal to produce the case details.
According to the sources, the two members bench led by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman heard the appeal against the death sentence of Mumtaz Qadri.
Former Chief Justice, Lahore High Court, Khawaja Muhammad Sharif is leading the panel of lawyers defending Mumtaz Qadri in the appeal.
The court adjourned the hearing till next Monday.
Earlier, Qadri filed an appeal against the death sentence on October 6.
Qadri had confessed to shooting Salman Taseer dead outside an upmarket coffee shop close to his residence in the capital Islamabad on January 4.
