A bomb explosion during funeral prayers held for a local elder killed at least 31 people and more than 70 wounded in Lower Dir on Thursday.

This was a suicide blast and took place in Sammer Bagh the area of Lower Dir. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Police official said the explosion targeted members of a government-sponsored anti-Taliban militia operating in the area.
