Violence in Karachi kills 11, several kidnapped

Eleven more people were killed in the economic hub here Friday with many of the victims tortured, shot and stuffed in sacks that were dumped on the streets .

While police conducted door to door search operation for 3 hours in the area of Godhra, and arrested two suspected criminals.

According to the police, Two people were gunned down in the areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal block 3, 5 identified as Hosh Muhammad Bloach and gabol Muhammad respectively.

In PIB  Colony a person identified as Mubeen was shot dead.

While two bodies were recovered from Kharadar and New Karachi sector 11 G.

The city plunged into the fresh wave of violence on Wednesday when a former lawmaker of the Pakistan People’s Party was shot dead.

Earlier on Thursday, at least 21 bullet-riddled and tortured bodies stuffed in gunny bags were found in different parts of the city as more than 30 people were killed in the city on the second day of a renewed wave of violence, taking the two-day death toll to nearly 50.

Most of the victims, police said, were common wage-earners who had been kidnapped mostly on Wednesday evening while returning home from their workplaces. In some cases they were dragged off public transport.

With the latest round of abductions, torture and brutal killings, Lyari and other parts of old Karachi and its adjoining neighbourhoods have remained in grip of extreme tension.
