Day against Hepatits being marked today
The ‘Day against Hepatitis’ is being marked across the world on Thursday with the theme of ‘Let’s Eradicate Hepatitis ‘B’ by 2012’.
The ‘Day against Hepatitis’ is being marked from this year after the World Health Organisation (WHO) officially decided to mark the Day against Hepatitis though the World Hepatitis Alliance started to mark the day since 2008.
The WHO has targeted to lower the hepatitis infection in 2 per cent children in nine different countries of the pacific region within 2012.
According to the WHO, 350 million people are affected from the hepatitis in the world and as high as one million people die of hepatitis every year in the world.
It is said that 315,000 people of 10-24 age group in Nepal are affected from this disease.
