The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the government to immediately reinstate FIA Additional Director General Zafar Qureshi.

Moreover, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry summoned Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhry for issuing another show cause notice to Mr Qureshi.

The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry heard the NICL case and in his remarks asked if the FIA had breached laws by not following the SC orders of stopping the transfer of the four officers.

The court also summoned the FIA’s director general for cancelling the transfer order of a subordinate officer.

“DG FIA should present the notification in court or go to jail,” Chief Justice Iftikhar said.

He further said to Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq that he could not do anything against Zafar Qureshi without the court’s permission.
