Hajj quota case: SC suspends LHC verdict

The Supreme Court here Thursday declared the verdict of the Lahore High Court (LHC) as invalid in Haj quota case.

Supreme Court’s justice Jawed Iqbal heard the petition of hajj quota case against Lahore high court verdict under the three member’s bench. The LHC had ruled against the distribution of quota under the Haj Policy 2011 and cancelled the quota allotted to hundreds of tour operators.

The Supreme Court was informed on Tuesday that if the Lahore High Court’s verdict on the Hajj Policy 2011 was not set aside, over 90,000 intending pilgrims, who would be performing Hajj through private quota, would be affected, as the last date for entertaining such requests was set for July 15 by the Saudi government.
