Kharotabad Panel: Action recommended against police, FC
The judicial tribunal of kharotabad incident here today put blame on Col Faisal Shahzad of Frontier Corps, former Quetta police chief Daud Junejo and other FC and police personnel in the killing of five foreigners and recommended legal action against them.
The tribunal submitted its report to Chief Minister Aslam Raisani who has ordered that the report be made public and its recommendations implemented.
The report said that FC and police exceeded their powers in taking action against the four Russian and one Tajik nationals. The tribunal, however, said that the foreigners were well-trained terrorists and had entered Pakistan illegally.
Initial news reports, that persistently only identified the five as chechens, indicated that they were suicide bombers that were in possession of grenades and explosives and that they had hurled grenades at police.
Later on, it was revealed that they did not possess any explosive materials, suicide jackets and arms and ammunition when they were gunned down.
