NICL case: SC issues three contempt notices
The Supreme Court on Thursday issued contempt of court notices to Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhary, Establishment Secretary Abdul Rauf Chaudhry and Khushnood Lashari, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, in the multi-billion-rupee scam in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL).
The notices were issued after a response from recently transferred DG FIA Malik Mohammad Iqbal.
The court will state the result after the statements of all three secretaries.
Moreover, the court directed the secretaries to submit their responses by June 23.
Earlier, FIA chief Malik Iqbal tendered an unconditional apology to the court for extricating Qureshi, the lead investigating officer in the fraud. The three secretaries were issued notices today after Iqbal’s contempt of court hearing last month.
