Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said that Punjab police was responsible for the security of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer.

Talking to media here Malik said that Salman Taseer was assassinated by his own guard Mumtaz Qadri, who also presently in custody.

He said that Taseer went with his friend for lunch. He expressed deep sorrow on his murder, saying he lost a good friend and national hero.
