Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas renewed calls on Friday for the international community to intervene to end Israeli military operations in Gaza that have left 33 dead in three days.
"The president asks the international community to intervene immediately to stop the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and massacres committed for the last three days that have lead to the deaths of more than 30," he said.
The statement from the Palestinian Authority presidency also warned against the "danger" in continuing with "this situation that threatens to plunge the region into more trouble".
The Israeli military launched a dozen air strikes in the Gaza Strip on Friday evening alone, stepping up a deadly offensive focused on the northern town of Beit Hanun, which it charges has become a launch-pad for rocket attacks.
