Pakistan's consumer price index, a key indicator of inflation, rose 8.4 percent in September from 8.7 percent in the same month last year, a Finance Ministry official said on Wednesday.
Inflation in the first quarter of the July-June 200708 financial year was an average 7.1 percent compared with 8.4 percent in the corresponding quarter of last year, said ministry adviser Ashfaque Hasan Khan.
