Japan's assistance for flood, rains affectees
The Government of Japan has extended relief assistance worth about 13 million Yen (Rs 7 million) for the flood rains affectees of Sindh and Balochistan.
The relief goods were formally handed over by the Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Shoichi Nakano, to Rasheeduddin Paracha, representing National Disaster Management Authority, Government of Pakistan.
A ceremony to this effect was held at the Karachi International Airport on Thursday.
The emergency relief assistance dispatched by the Government of Japan includes sleeping mattresses, plastic sheets and other items.
A statement said the Government of Japan has decided to extend this aid from a humanitarian point of view considering the friendly and co-operative relationship between the two countries.
