Severe cold engulfs country, school hours adjusted

The country is currently facing a severe cold wave, with snowfall in mountainous regions and rain intensifying the chill.

In response to the dropping temperatures, educational institutions have begun to adjust their schedules.

Yesterday, Leh recorded the lowest temperature at minus twelve degrees Celsius, while Karachi residents experienced shivering conditions due to icy winds.

The Meteorological Department has announced that the cold wave is expected to continue nationwide today.

Among the country’s most polluted cities, Lahore is at the top, with an early morning Air Quality Index reading of two hundred and twenty-three.

In Azad Kashmir, the cold intensity has also risen, affecting several areas with freezing temperatures. Consequently, the Azad Kashmir government has revised school hours.

Starting today, all private and public schools in Azad Kashmir will open at nine in the morning, with classes running until two-thirty in the afternoon.

On Fridays, schools will operate from nine to twelve-thirty.

Additionally, the dry cold in Azad Kashmir has led to an increase in various illnesses among residents.
