A dispute over a parking space in Dubai’s Tecom area escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in a significant legal outcome for one of the involved parties. The incident, which occurred on February 8, 2023, involved a 70-year-old Pakistani man and a 34-year-old Indian man, both residents of the same building.

The argument began when the Pakistani man claimed a parking space the Indian man intended to use. This led to a heated exchange that culminated in the Pakistani man forcefully pushing the Indian man to the ground.

The fall caused the Indian man to suffer a fractured tibia in his left leg. Medical reports later revealed nerve damage, muscle atrophy, and a permanent 50% loss of functionality in the leg. In retaliation, the Indian man struck the Pakistani man on the head, causing injuries that prevented him from performing daily tasks for approximately 20 days.

Following the incident, authorities intervened, taking both men into custody. The case proceeded to the Dubai Criminal Court, where forensic evidence and witness testimonies, including statements from both injured men and an on-site investigator, were presented. The Pakistani man admitted to pushing the Indian man but claimed it was a reaction to verbal provocation.

The court found the Pakistani man guilty of physical assault and causing permanent disability. He received a three-month prison sentence followed by deportation. The charges against the Indian man, deemed less severe, were transferred to the Misdemeanour Court for further proceedings. The case highlights the serious consequences of even seemingly minor disputes escalating into violence in the UAE, and underscores the legal ramifications of causing permanent injury.
