A US author and former CIA analyst, Sarah Adams, has expressed skepticism about the characterization of PTI’s recent protests as “peaceful.”

In a tweet, she shared her firsthand experiences in Pakistan, suggesting that the portrayal of these protests does not accurately reflect reality.

Adams cautioned against falling for what she called “fake news”, and said even some U.S. congress members were commenting on protests “without any actual ground truth.”

She emphasized the ongoing violence, citing instances of protesters being met with tear gas during demonstrations in Islamabad.

She also highlighted the influence of organizations like Amnesty International in shaping perceptions about the protests, arguing that reliance on such groups for information can undermine the legitimacy of the situation.

Her tweet has garnered significant attention, sparking discussions about the nature of the protests and the narratives surrounding them.

Here is what she said:

I’ve lived in Pakistan and seen these so-called ‘peaceful’ protesters firsthand. Trust me, those of us from Benghazi know a thing or two about the misrepresentation of ‘peaceful protests.’

Don’t fall for the fake news. Even some of our own U.S. congresspeople are out here commenting on these protests without any actual ground truth.

Here’s a reality check: it’s the protesters firing off tear gas. And no, 100 protesters in Islamabad weren’t shot and killed by the Pakistani military either.

Just because it’s on the internet, and organizations like Amnesty International parrot it for donation dollars, doesn’t mean it’s true. Reminder that sharing false information only undermines the legitimacy of your own cause.

Sara Adams is known for her book Benghazi: Know Thy Enemy. She was an Intelligence Analyst and Targeter with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). She also served as the Senior Advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Benghazi, and was co-author of The Benghazi Committee Report: Proposed Report of the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi.
