KP bans import of rickshaws from Punjab

Peshwar administration introduces strict measures to fix traffic in the city

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has imposed a ban on the import of rickshaws from Punjab, leading to the arrest of individuals involved in bringing rickshaws into the province.

The order also includes the seizure of rickshaws, as well as the scrapping of wagons and buses operating on the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) routes and the arrest of drivers. Additionally, a decision has been made to strictly enforce the ban on playing music in passenger vehicles.

Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud, chaired an important meeting where it was decided to impose a ban on rickshaws from Jee Road, Peer Zakori Bridge to Suri Bridge.

The meeting also included instructions to impound wagons and buses operating on BRT routes, apprehend drivers, and scrap illegal rickshaws, wagons, and buses. It was mentioned that the land of the Benazir Hospital, located on the Ring Road, has been designated for scrapping purposes.

Furthermore, a decision has been made to impound rickshaws operating without permits and outside the jurisdiction of Peshawar and other districts.

Commissioner Peshawar Division has also decided to impound rickshaws operating on fake permits and registrations, and all factories involved in manufacturing rickshaws will be shut down.

In addition, Commissioner Peshawar Division has announced strict action against pressure horns, flashing lights, tinted windows, illegal number plates, and music devices in passenger vehicles. It was stated that pressure horns, flashing lights, and music devices will be publicly dismantled and confiscated.

The order includes the arrest of individuals involved in bringing rickshaws from Punjab and seizing rickshaws. A crackdown against illegal rickshaws, illegal buses, and wagons will be initiated in Peshawar from now until May 29, lasting for 20 days. Moreover, anyone under the age of 21 caught driving a vehicle will face arrest and legal action.
