Scientists claim to talk to whales for 20 minutes
Scientists claim to talk to whales for 20 minutes. It may seem like a scene from a science fiction movie, but American scientists have made it possible to talk to a whale after a 20-minute-long conversation with a whale in the US state of Alaska.
According to media reports, a 38-year-old whale named Twain in Southeast Alaska responded to a pre-recorded ‘telephonic call’ and ‘conversed’ with researchers from the SETI Institute and UC Davis.
The team of researchers said that this is the first time that whales and humans have spoken to each other in their languages. Experts also say that it also illuminates the possibility of the ability to communicate with otherworldly beings in the future.
Scientists broadcast a distinctive welcome call called a whup/throp underwater, which caused a whale to approach the boat and respond with a welcome call of its own.
