Boris Johnson’s health improves as he spends second night in ICU
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has spent a second night in a row in an intensive care unit as he continues to receive treatment for coronavirus.
The British PM is being kept at St Thomas' Hospital in London under close monitoring and observation.
On Tuesday, spokesperson of Downing Street stated that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was in “in good spirits" after spending the night in ICU while being treated for coronavirus.
The spokesperson added that Mr. Boris is being given oxygen and is not on a ventilator.
"He has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support and does not have pneumonia,” the statement added.
Mr Johnson was moved to hospital with "persistent symptoms" of Covid-19, after his health condition worsened on Monday night.
Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister had been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital where he is being treated for coronavirus.
The 55-year-old had isolated himself after showing symptoms.
“Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives,” he had announced on social media.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK are continued to increase, with nearly 51,000 people now testing positive in the country. A total of 5,373 people have died due to the coronavirus.
